Spine stood in the center of the central square. His camo Air gear hung over his back and his large wrench hung at his side."So this is Westopolis." He said as he removed his goggles from his eyes and grinned. "After all the time that I've lived near this place I never took the time to come here." He said as he dropped his Air gear on to the ground and stepped on to him. He kicked down on it and it floated into the air. He gently applied pressure to the accelerator and zoomed around the square searching for something or someone of interest.
"I wonder if this place has any good auto shops." He said as he slowly moved along the ground his Air Gear only two inches from the hard pavement. He rubbed the back oh his head as he came to a stop and looked around. He was exactly in the same spot he had started in. He sighed as he stepped of the Air Gear and then kicked it up into his arms. He grabbed onto it and slung it over his back.
Spine stopped very close to a black hound who almost walked right into him. The black dog jumped higher than necessary, was startled more than he should be, like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Only there was nothing little kid-like nor innocent about those dark blue eyes. Swiftly he spun to face the porcupine, shifting a black case behind his back. In the bustle of the crowd, Gyre wasn't sure why he'd frozen. He wasn't supposed to.
It was agonizingly silent for a moment, then the dog spoke. "Nice ride," he said stiffly.
"Thanks." Said Spine as he looked over the person in front of him. he inspected him for a few more moments before opening his mouth. "Umm nice case?" He said not sure if that was the appropriate thing to say at the moment but what else was there to compliment him on. He had noticed him shift the case from his grasp to behind his back and wondered why he had done so. "Um my name is Spine whats yours?" He asked as he rubbed the back of his head naturally avoiding his own spikes.
Gyre's eyes continued to get wider with each word, and his heart gave a little jump as the case was mentioned. Oh great, brilliant, this is what I get for almost walking straight into someone. Pay attention, idiot! He continued to shift the case back. "Er, thanks," he said one eyebrow raised. "I'm...Jo--I mean, James, er...yea, James."
Get ahold of yourself, man! It was a very bad sign for Gyre when he couldnt' even give a smooth lie. Gyre almost never froze up, he'd seen so many awful things. But...something about... this last job...
As he spoke, his ears perked up and his eyes widened further. Sirens had sounded in the distance, steadily getting louder. This wasn't a rare noise in the city. But for some reason Gyre just had the feeling they weren't coming for the usual thugs today.
"I uh... I gotta go. Nice to meet you and all." He spoke a little too quickly, his tone too jumpy, his eyes too distant.
Spine watched as the other person talked in a strange manner. Soon enough he was running away and Spine was still confused. He rubbed the back of his head as he wondered what the hell had just happened. With a hunch of his shoulders he turned his head towards the sirens. He had rarely heard them when he lived in the small town with his mother and wondered what they were from.
He pushed down his board and rode away towards the sirens. "I wonder what it is..." He said to himself as he sped along through the city streets. When he finally caught up with the police cars. He ducked down and grabbed onto the edge of the last one in a small row of cars.
He smiled to himself as he inspected the car. It was special not int he sense that it was one of a kind but the fact that its engine was made to run much faster than civilian vehicles. He grinned as he thought of what he could do to this vehicle. In the back of his head he imagined dismantling row after row of car and reassembling them into a behemoth of a vehicle.
"Where is this thing going?" he asked as he looked over the side of the car and looked around.
