"Unit five, status?"
"Almost done here."
"Unit three?"
"All's clear."
"Alright...wait for my mark."
----------------------------------------------------
It was mid-day and the city oddly peaceful...minus the blaring car honks and the quiet roar that was the murmur of the million or so voices of the city. But it was quieter than usual... like the calm before a storm.
Something shifted on the tops of the sky scrapers that towered over the city. People, figures. Watchers over the crowds below.
A pair of big blue eyes peered up through the crowd. A young rabbit girl watching with intererest. But she didn't have much time to ponder.
Suddenly a great thundering split the air, and chaos and fire broke loose on the square. One of the buildings suddenly blasted outwards, debris and billowing smoke consuming one corner of the street and people with it.
The girl screamed, her heart hammering a hundred miles an hour. She started running, running from the screaming crowds that threatened to stampede her. That was her unknowing mistake. She ran head-long towards a building on the opposite side of the square. This one soon met the same fate. And the explosion consumed her along with about two dozen others, the hundreds of floors from the skyscraper toppling down.
The shorter buildings were hit, from the inside, great balloons of fire and black ash choked the air. People went flying, shards of glass and metal raining down.
The secret war had begun. The secret war to destroy the city. This was the first strike of many. And it wasn't finished yet.
--------------------------------------------------------
"Excellent, men. Keep it up, keep up the chaos. Unit A-6 and 7, status report?"
"We are in position and ready."
"Also in position."
There was a pause. Then--
"Move out."
------------------------------------------------------
Suddenly dark figures started moving into the wild crowds. Where they came from was uncertain, but bullets went off and the screams intensified.
In a phonebooth nearby, one figure watched without remourse. November merely nodded to himself. "Good work, men," he repeated, softer. "Cause a little more chaos and then pack it back to base ASAP."
"Rodger!" came a harmonious reply.
November turned off the com and continued to watch. One minute, to make sure all was going well. Then he'd leave the scene and no one would be any wiser.

A third large explosion, almost as powerful as the first, irrupted across from the Sky Corps. army, sending large pieces of metal building frame and brick flying through the air in the dust cloud that looked more like the doings of a natural disaster. A hazy green glow came from within the now leveled rubble, eerily, like something you'd expect to be out of an alien movie. And then that glow blinked out into a blinding light that flashed only a brief second before the hue was gone entirely.
In it's place, heavy figures, silhouettes of what looked like large muscle men that were 10 foot high at the least, darkened the dust that refused to settle. A silence set in, like the calm before the sorm, as a spout of wind cleared it away. The sunlight gleamed off their metal hulls and flashed over their "Eggman" logos. Robots. Big ones. And then several flying bots soared over their heads in the direction of the Sky Corps soldiers, the wind swishing off their metalic wings. And just as they were soaring over their enemy soldiers, small cartledges fell from their bellys. There was no second guessing what those were....
-BOOM BOOM BOOM-
The back-to-back blasts rattled the city to it's roots. The war was on...
"Hehehe....Hohoho! Take that you hooligan copyrighters!" Eggman, sitting in his high-chair, wound his fist back and thrust it forward as if he were a boxer as he said those things, "I greatly hope that you shot-gun chuckers enjoyed that show as much as me. You fools! GUN couldn't keep up with me, and neither can loosers! HAHAHAHA!"
Decoe and Bacoe looked at eachother and rolled their eyes as they sat at the controls of the huuuge air ship, better known as The Egg Carrier, as their master gloated over his genius. Trying to lighten the mood amongst themselves so they could function properly with Zero standing right there. That guy....man...if robots could crap their pants...
"Zero m'boy! I'm sure there is going to be some civilian resistance. Kill them! And get me a cheeseburger!" He laughed at this, then suddenly stopped and frowned in seriousness to show that he wasn't joking, thrusting a finger that pointed downard at the battle, "Now GO!"

Zero stood there, arms crossed, and his eyes locked stone cold on the events taking place below him. The hedgehog had managed to blur out all the sounds that were taking place around him. Even though he looked fixed on the battle the project seemed as if he was in his own little world, where nothing bad was going on.
Yet, a moment later, Eggman's words poured into his mind, and he shook his head, eyes wide as he entered the real world. His ears perked and he turned to Eggman, giving a nod and then looked at Decoe and Bacoe. He smile formed on his face. " When I get done here, you two are next." He cackled, before disappearing in a flash of blue light.
The powerful hedgehog reappeared down on the hell stricken turf of the city. His eyes scanned the massacre calmly, and he glanced at his enemies. " I hate my job," He mumbled, before activating chaos boost one, energy swarming around him, and then he bolted off, attacking all in his path.

"What the heck?" November muttered, back pressed in the corner of the phone booth as he watched the new arrivals. Huge robots. And...in the sky! That ship...it wasn't Sky Corps.'s.
"Is that Robotnik? That man's been out of it for a long time, what's he doin' now?!"
He jumped slightly as in a flash of blue a new figure joined the masses. Who was...okay, it wasn't any of the famous hedgehogs, it was someone else...
He swore softly under his breath as the hedgehog began his attack. He rose his com again. "Everyone, out, now. This has gotten a lot more complicated." Now that he'd ensured he was the lone remainder of Sky Corps in the city, he left the box and walked calmly into the street, his hands flexing slightly and a small spark of electricity shooting between his fingers. He intended to find out what was going on...

((Okay...er...Since when were they pulling out? I guess we'll just say GUN was somehow in the mix and they DIDN'T...))
"Holy mother of--"
"Cool it Devlin."
"What?!"
Two mobians were standing atop a tall business warehouse, a bat and a female hedgehog. One of which looked like he was about to pass out. Devlin had never been exceedingly brave. Not many people knew that until they actually saw him in a situation like this. He was a serious bluffer. But that wouldn't save him here.
"You're crazy. It's official. We're at--Oh myyy...one of those soldiers just threw something against the wall! THIS BUILDING'S GOING DOWN!"
A soft frown was pastered on the pretty hedgehog's face as she gazed downward with unusually bright blue eyes, the breeze toying with her bangs. It looked like Eggman's arrivel wasn't part of the plan, considering how the Sky Corps soldiers were retreating, while GUN as usual, didn't seem to have a clue.
"Hey Devlin look! Sky Corps is pulling back." She said, which temporarily shut the ranting bat up and he hurried to her side to stare down the wall of their building.
"Who's that guy sparking up?"
"Donno. But he's on Buttnic's side."
The black bat narrowed his purple eyes and they shifted to the cat...dragon....thing. That was appearingly going to confront Zero. "We should--"
"Not leave." Aerie couldn't help but grin, unconsciously trembling in antisipation. She wanted to get down there soo bad but she wanted to know what was going on first. The waiting game sucked. And pacients wasn't exactly the light furred hedgehog's strong point.
Devlin noticed that the cement gaurd-wall they leaned on was growing dramatically colder by the second, and when he looked, he saw that ice expanding from Aerie's hands and over his own gloves. Sticking him there.
"WAH!"
________________
"Wahahaha!"
Apparently, Eggman had gotten a hold of the speaker that broadcasted his voice from his ship. His voice echoing over that part of the city.
"Hohoho! Don't mind me, fools. I'm just here to remind you to enjoy your idle freedom while it lasts, because you are listening to the all powerful voice of your soon to be ruler and lord! Hahaha! It's always good weather for a thorough kick in the rear, wouldn't you agree? Especially by my greatest creation yet! A hedgehog more powerful than Sonic and Shadow combined! Hahaha! But don't let me discourage you. By all means, put on a show. It's quite a marvelous view from up here!"

((Background music for Zero: youtube.com/watch?v=jROHl5So_FE )) Energy pulsed through Zero's veins, and swarmed around him like he was a generator of endless energy. His eyes were glowing an even brighter blue, and he had picked up the pace. After just slamming down a robot by its throat, and then turning around to blast some poor fool mobian with a ball of chaos energy, he ran full speed through the middle of the street, launching chaos energy at anything near him, before skidding to a stop. At his stop, a mobian ran forward at him with a sword, and swung at Zero's head. Zero countered by grasping his wrists, then spinning and flipping the guy over his shoulder. As soon as the mobian hit the hard pavement, Zero stepped on his sword hand. " Your sword, give it. Now." Zero demanded coldly, forming a ball of chaos energy as his form of diplomacy; give him what he wants or die. The fox mobian immediately dropped the blade at his side. In response, Zero lifted up his foot and watched as the mobian ran off in terror. He bared his fangs with a wicked grin, and picked up the blade. The victorious hedgehog glanced at the blade, and was in the middle of admiring it, when Eggman's annoying voice sounded throughout. Zero's ears flattened in disgust and his orbs glanced at the ship, only to catch two figures on top of a building as they made their way up to the ship. A grin appeared on his face. Perfect. There was a flash of blue light, and then he reappeared behind Aeris and Devlin. He twirled the blade expertly before tapping its point on the building, to get there attention. " Hey you two, turn around. I suggest you chumps leave the city before I dispose of you. Thus being said, run." He stated, his eyes narrowing, as he waited for the female and male to turn around.

Devlin didn't dare turn around.
He started jerking himself back and forth like he was being tazored in an effort to get his hands free from the ice, yelling and yelping, while the hedgehog simply flashed a grin over her shoulder. Devlin swore repeativly, then finally put a foot on the wall and started leaning back, heaving himself but it was in vein, "Ah! Aerie! We-er, best do what the man says!" He barked at her, sparing her a glance with his wide lavender eyes, then jerked his head back forward to stare at his iced over gloves, "HINTIDY HINT HINT!"
"Aww..but where's the fun in that?" Aerie responded then turned to face Zero, ignoring Devlin's freak-out behind her. He had limited mobility so he couldn't do anything that would require further babysitting. She WOULD set him loose if she thought she'd ever see him again. Or, even worse, what if he grabed her and flew off? This was a once in a life-time oppertunity right? Her eyes started to glow a blinding white.
"So you're this Zero guy huh?" She asked in a remarcably friendily tone. Though, what she was about to say would make you think twice about that, "Psh. I bet you're not all that tough. You're probably a dooshbag." And those were fighting words.

Zero at first, had a smile of pure amusement and he stood leaning on the sword casually. Although, Aerie had stepped in with her smart mouthed comment. His eyes widened, ears flattened, and his grasp on the blade tightened.
He glanced at the ship then those two and gave a scowl. Why are the pretty ones always so stubborn?! Zero thought. He raised his hand, and a blue ball of chaos energy formed in his hand. Zero locked his eyes and concentration on the targets, only to have his gaze slowly soften and become a bit hesitant.
Then, it happened the chest pain! " Agh!" He yelled, launching the ball of energy at the sky, only for it to explode into an exquisite display of power. The hedgehog then dropped to his knees, clenching his chest and coughing up blood. He winced, before looking up at them and cracking his neck. " Okay, seriously, get the h*ll outta here, NOW!"

"No problem sir! Just as SOON as i get out of this." Devlin still looked like a mobian yoyo, jerking back and forth, "MELT ALREADY!"
Aerie flinched and watched as the ball of energy scourged the skies like a propain explosion. Holy....heh, ok....whoa...maybe Eggman hadn't been TOTALLY overexagerating. That was unEggmanish, from what she'd heard of the guy. But it looked like that blast sure did take alot out of him though, she noticed, turning a thoughtdul gaze back down to the silver hedgehog. Her ear turned back and her lips parted as she watched his pain, and watched as he coughed up blood by the mouthfulls. Did she miss something? He'd JUST got out here didn't he?
She pricked her ears again, taking a few steps toward him with what looked like consern in her previously mischevious eyes, "Hey...Are you alright?" Ah, Aerie. So ignorantly trusting.

Zero's eyes closed and he grunted in deep pain. His nails/claws scratched deep into his chest, before slowly releasing and thrusting a claw at her. " Get away from me!" He yelled, standing up and staggering away from her a bit. He felt his insides burn as if they were placed in an oven, and at the same time his heart was being crushed by a giant.
The silver hedgehog panted and breathed very heavily, his eyes opening finally before he turned towards them. " Look, this is my last warning, you know what? F*ck it. I'm sorry for this." Zero finished.
He teleported in between Devlin and Aerie. Zero glanced at Aerie and sighed. " I'm sorry but I'm going to have to kill him...and you, well, you're going to be a slave."

Aerie jumped back the moment she saw his hand move, and then retreated tto stand near Devlin, "I was trying to help you... Jerk."
Both her and Devlin's eyes widened at his last declaration though, and they spoke in unison, "WHAT?!"
"Oh heck no! Aerie! For graceious sake LET ME GO!"
Aerie was more p*ssed than anything else, and reluctantly, made the ice lift and Devlin's wings flapped like mad. "I'm out of here! You're on your own Aer!"
Aerie would like to say that she wans't expecting that. But that was soo typical of the bat. She turned a glare on Zero though, and backed away with glowing eyes, "Back off, buddy-boy." She warned in a tone that was serious, despite her playful name for him, "You'll be a block of ice before this is over with."

Zero smirked, blood leaking from his mouth. He wiped the dribble of blood from his jaw and spit to the side, watching in some amusement at Devlin's cowardice. " You're weak blooded. You don't even deserve to die by my hand. I'll have the eggbots do that," he responded coldly, before focusing his attention back on Aerie.
" You know, I hate to do this to such a kind and gorgeous mobian like you, but I have no choice. I must obey Eggman, and this is my destiny." Zero said proudly before teleporting behind her, " and as for an ice block, go ahead, you can attempt to harm me, but your power is nothing to mine. "

Aerie didn't bother turning around, and she smiled. Which made her look pretty darn insane considering her glowing white eyes. She could play hard ball too...
"Wow, somebody sure is coc.ky. Has anybody ever told you that?" She pointed out as she turned to face him, one hand on her hip and the other holding up what looked like a dagger-sized ice-sickle, tapping it's sharp point lightly on his chest, "My ability has alot more of an effect than most people could guess. You might be more powerful than me, but I can still waste a heck-load of your time."
The ground benieth his feet seemed to rise a few inches, ice freezing and pushing it's way benieth his shoes. And then before he could do much, one side of it jutted up and Zero was lifted high above Aerie's head, who stayed on the main part of the roof smiling contently up at him. The ice made a sort of super-slick ramp, and if Zero didn't pull something pretty fast, he'd simply slide down the ramp and off the building.
"Hehe, See ya Zero!" She said cheerfully with a wave, then turned to dart off into the shed that sheltered the stairs leading into the building they were on.

Zero smirked as she tapped his self inflicted chest wound, and talked in a way that'd make her seem pretty confident as well. He quirked a brow and crossed his arms, half open eyes locked on her beautiful orbs. Unfortunately his peace would falter. He could feel his heart pound unnaturally and gasped at first, then, when he was rose up and still didn't attack, he felt the searing pain again, and fell down the ramp.
Time seemed to slow for him, as he fell. His eyes were half open, and his hand gripped his chest. His mind was completely blank, not a single though passed through his mind, but then it happened. " Chaos Control!" He yelled, snapping out of his daze.
The project reappeared at the top step, seeing Aerie make her way downward. He smirked. He dissapeared again and reappeared in front of her, a good couple of feet away. " I'm asking you one last time, stop!"

Yeah, he wished.
But Aerie of coarse didn't stop, didn't turn around, and didn't even try to dodge around him. The higher up hedgehog jumped and planted her hands on his shoulders, tackling him. And if he wasn't able to do anything, she'd ride him like a mat to the bottom of the steps. Being higher up made it easier to pounce, and Aerie didn't seem to mind doing that in the least, and even laughed about it. But whether that laugh was playful or devilish was hard to tell...
