The dragon's hiss grew more ferocious and leapt closer to Jaq, back arched like a cat's. The wolf put a hand on one spread wing, his blind eyes widening slightly in alarm behind the glasses. The dragon was often unruly around people, but not quite like this...

"Uh-ummmm...no? Look, whatever it is, it doesnt' much matter where you say it. It's not like my house is bugged. Though then again, how would I know? Haha! But seriously, no one would bother keeping tabs on a blind man who's scarcely home 'cept to sleep. Come on, now." That smirk stayed in place and he leaned forward again, tail wagging slightly expectantly.

She waited for his answer, but even if he said no again. She'd etheir end up forcing him to come with her, or try something else. Lanza had access to hundreds of weapons and other resources, she could try blowing up his house. But that wouldn't be the smartest idea.

Jaq's slightly annoying grin quickly faded and his tail became stiff. She'd mentioned the book, right? And ancient. For some reason he connected the two. For some reason he understood the words though no one else could despite that he couldn't see them. But she couldn't be talking about that, right? 'Course not. For all she knew, Jaq didn't have it. Except...well, all his relatives knew, it wouldn't be that hard.

He made a mental note to put that thing in a vault next chance he got.

"Well...tempting...but..." Jaq couldn't explain it, but he was liking this woman less and less with every word out of her mouth. "Um...I don't know anything about ancient stuff. Unless it's ancient Greek, I know Latin! Heheh...heh..." His hand found the staff again consciously. "But what do I care about ancient junk? Know what I mean?"

The drake landed on Jaq's shoulder once more and the wolf just stood there, straight, the staff not held in both hands behind his back. He frowned for a moment, not moving, trying to consider his options. But she hadn't really left him with any. And in the end he followed, the dragon still hissing and spitting as it fluttered its wings.

He locked the door behind him and then entered the back of the limo. From here he was silent, trying to figure things out.
