Party at Jaq's place? No. Just his friend Cannon over for a visit. ((Cannon's a char I made a long time ago and don't really RP much.))
"Jaa-aa-aaq!" the serval yowled as he sprinted around the room. Jaq was standing in the middle of the room, somewhat helpless in the situation but unable to hide his wide grin as he listened to Cannon's screams of terror.
What was the cause? Jaq's little pet dragon (who, no, still didn't have a name). Cannon had always had bad luck with animals. For some reason they just hated him. Especially his sister's griffon. He probably should have expected this...
But no time for looking back. Keep running, keep--"AAAooowhow!" he yowled as the tiny drake once again landed its fangs into his neck from behind, twisting around and latching on, kicking hard at Cannon's ears with its sharp reptilian claws. "Jaq, get it off me!"
Jaq let another laugh go through him. "How? I told you, he won't listen to me!"
Cannon was wrestling with the beast on the back of his head, and like a cat, the more you tried to pull it away, the more it clung on. "Then get over here and take him!"
"What? So I can end up like you?!"

A long black veichle pulled up in front of the mansion, and quickly drove away as it's passenger got out of the veichle, there was a loud knock on the front door, so Jaq could hear it from the room he was in.
Lanza who had visited Jaq before was back, she had taken him to her ship, and had barely, infact not even explained why she needed him, or why he was so important to her, and now she was back, the nine-tailed Kitsune was back again and Jaq would probably recognize the way she knocked on the door. This time, she was going to explain to him, explain everything, well almost everything.
Lanza wasn't going to explain that it was her fault that the city had been bombed and attacked several times in the recent months. That, was her secret.

One ear perked, somehow ignoring the racket around him and focusing in on that light gentle knock. His head snapped around towards the door, and he felt the dragon's sharp claws land on his shoulder before he heard the end of Cannon's wrestling match. The serval must have frozen too, for no noise came from where he had been, but Jaq suspected it was more from shock that he'd been released than because he had any clue what was about to step through Jaq's door.
"Ugly lizard, I'll--"
"Shh!" the wolf hissed.
Cannon was quiet again, probably offended, but it didn't much matter at the moment. The way Jaq figured it it probably didn't matter much if they were quiet either. They'd made enough noise to surely freak out the paranoid old man next door.
Well come on, Jaq. Jumping to conclusions... It could be anyone. Since when is a knock unique? But then what caused the dragon to react like this?
A slow, deep breath, and he moved into the hall. One wandering hand found the metal of the door and then the knob, twisting it and stepping back as he opened the door. Hopes dashed--Jaq never forgot a scent. Lanza's was hard to miss. Fortunately, Jaq had been raised well, and so tried not to look annoyed or unhappy. "Hello again," he said politely. "Back already?" A thousand years from now would have been too soon.

Lanza just smiled at first. "Yes, and this time I'm going to explain everything... You don't have to come anywhere, and I'll only explain if it's okay with you. If it's okay if I can come in, I'm not going to try and force you." Lanzac was acting much kinder than she had before, her voice was much softer too, but she hadn't gone far enough to treat Jaq like a little kid, she wasn't going to do that this time.
But this time, in her hand she held a file, filled with pieces of paper, many of them being different colors, and different sizes, most of them were kind of old. "I have something important to talk to you about also, that doesn't concern runes." Lanza knew that Jaq was blind, good thing the papers had brail copies of the actually documents, so there was two of each file.

Jaq listened in silence, and even after she was done speaking he was silent for a long time--well, five seconds actually, but long enough surely to make her wonder if he'd heard. Then he licked his lips slowly and turned his head. He sensed rather than heard or smelled Cannon approach behind him. That sixth sense everyone has, Jaq's not particularly heightened--he just paid attention to it more than people who put so much faith in the "if you can't see it it's not there" philosophy.
"Cannon? Um...I think..."
"Don't worry about, bro."
Jaq felt a rush of relief that Cannon understood, the serval's furry arm brushing past him and past Lanza out the door.
The dragon tightened his grip and actually let out a low growl at Lanza.
"Come on in." Jaq turned away, disappearing into the kitchen. He took a seat at the table next to the open window, letting the smell of twilight calm him down a little. "What is it this time?"

"..." Lanza was actually silent at first, she opened up the folder and pushed one of the brail copies over to Jaq, it was a hospital document, almost like a birth certificate. Lanza sat down slowly and stared up at the ceiling. "It's this, and don't worry... It's in brail..."
She looked down at the dragon perched on Jaq's shoulder, staring, and then glaring, a dark evil look in her eyes, but it quickly disappeared and everything was normal. "It's a birth certifcate... From the hospital, it concerns you..." Through, the thing was, it was a "special" copy of Jaq's birth certificate, and Lanza's name was on it, she was marked as the mother.
"I'm not trying to hide anything this time..."

Jaq's fingers were already running over it, and in one of those odd blind habits his head never turned down towards it while he read it, instead those sightless eyes behind the glasses stared straight at Lanza through the duration.
It was all a bunch of nonsense at first. Government documents are like that. But Jaq felt a tremor of dread at her words, so much so that he didn't even notice the dragon that was trying to crawl under his hat. His fingers scanned ahead over the page, down to somewhere around the middle. Resting on his own name. Jaq Hail Kallan.
((Yea, Pyran and Jaq's last and middle names are pronounced the same, just spelled different.))
His fingers rushed up, his heart hammering in his chest, still not moving his sightless gaze from the fox but scarcely paying her any heed as his fingers found... Well there was his father's. Hail Johnson Kallan. His father's name had always been sort of a joke. Hail, as one hails royalty.
And the mother. Not Isabelle Gale Northfall Kallan. The name on the grave at his father's mansion. Lanza--
Jaq stopped, not wanting to read further. He snatched his hand back from the paper as though it were poisoned, teeth gritted in shock and maybe just a small bit of fear.
No way...
"Forged," he said easily, easily considering the screaming in his head. "Not hard for someone with a ship the size of uptown Westopolis, I imagine. And an army to back her up..."

"My ship was destroyed... And my army no longer exsists..." She said slowly, leaning forward slightly and just barely smiling at him. Then she sat sraight and stared up at the ceiling again, calm and not speaking for another moment or two. "It couldn't have been forged anyway, each document has an imprint from the machine it was made on... And that one, was printed at the hospital."
Lanza blinked and her tails flicked softly behind her, she let out a soft laugh. "This isn't a joke or a trick etheir... I'm not into money or controlling people, and I've already lost my ship... I, have never lied to anyone Jaq... I've been watching you for along time..."
"The people at the hospital would tell you the same thing, you have half of my DNA..."

Well that wasn't comforting in the slightest. Jaq's composure slipped and he made a disgusted face as he remembered those many tails rubbing against him and that sleek, eerie voice of hers that slipped at sometimes at the same intervals when the dragon now on Jaq's head got restless. Jaq trusted the drake, trusted animal instinct almost as well as his own. And no matter what he didn't like this woman.
But...
"Then...why..." You already know the answer to that one, Jaq. Mr. H. Johnson Kallan would have left anything that compromised his name and position. A madwoman bent on world domination would certainly fit the bill. The real question was, "Why would he...have me with you? He wasn't that kind of man. Was it an affair? Or...Before that?" Either one didn't make much sense. His father didn't just jump into things like marrying a woman with nine tails, and he certainly was far too dignified for an affair.

"At first it was more of a buisness thing, we pretended to love each other, it boosted our social status..." She replied, deciding to go over the entire story with Jaq, well most of it, anything that concerned recent events she would leave out.
"We decided to get married, which increased our income... He ended up getting drunk, once or twice... Then, I left on my ship to check on my company back home..." She paused, taking short breathes and relaxing for another moment, her eyes completely focusing on Jaq, and ignoring the drake. "I became pregnant, and suddenly my company starting gaining more money, I don't think that made him very happy. But he dealt with it, it makes you look better if your rich wife is pregnant... Then, a year after I had you I started investing into making a private military... That's when he took you and left me, not wanting anything to do with it, not wanting it to affect him or his family name..." Lanza stopped, that was pretty much the entire story, all he really needed to know, wasn't it? It was the truth after all.
But would Jaq believe it? Maybe, maybe not, it was all up to him, all up to what he thought was true and what wasn't true.
((Hey! I just got an idea, maybe we could do an RP on Chatzy about what happened with Jaq's father and Lanza?))

((Heh, Jaq's father was...well, to be perfectly frank, boring. But if ya want, we could do that some time.))
Jaq did believe her. Unfortunately. Because it made sense. It made perfect sense. Yes, that's what his father would have done. He would have covered up the divorce as much as possible, and in so doing covered up the marriage in the first place. That might explain a few minor gaps in the family history that every one of his relatives loved gossiping about. They would have known about it, but Johnson would have made sure they didn't tell. Bribes would be involved, a new marriage would take place fast to cover up the old, and Jaq would grow up in new arms none the wiser.
He leaned forward at the table, clenching a fist as he placed his arms around in front of him. Looking away for once. Perhaps he was glad his father had taken him from this woman. Perhaps he was angry at all the lies his family kept weaving. No, he was definitely glad about this one. But maybe he was being too judgmental...
Jaq had been different too at one point. Though there is a certain age at which people stop making pivots in morals.
Jaq had always assumed he was pure-bred wolf. But it had been years since he'd looked in a mirror and suddenly a question came to mind. People changed when they got older. "Do I look anything like you?" Odd questions. Questions that burned at someone like Jaq.
"What did you do...when he left you?"

"No... You don't look like me at all..." Lanza blinked, what did she do when he left her? Well, these were things she didn't want to remember, that she never discussed, but right here, right now she had to do both. "What did I do...? I sulked over it for awhile, I tired to get you back, but failed completely... The court system wasn't exactly helpful at the time..." Lanza's voice trailed off again, she just blankly stared at a wall, right past Jaq, ignoring the little sound there was in this place for a single short moment.
"I'm sorry about this Jaq, I really am..."

Jaq was quiet. Then he spoke. "No, don't be." He still wasn't sure he'd have wanted to live with her. What would a life under the foot of a mentally unstable fox have done to him? But he was polite enough not to put things that way. I don't know, Jaq was used to disliking any and all his relatives. They were all insane to some degree. Just on his dad's and step mother's sides they were mad in a civilized way, if that makes sense.
Though it was worth consideration that if he had grown up with Lanza he probably wouldn't be blind. Jaq still blamed his now-dead father for that. It was a shame the man wasn't alive still, though. Jaq could have asked him about this. As if he'd give an honest answer.
Jaq still wasn't sure about Lanza. Could she really have come to tell him now just to serve maternal instincts? Little late for that. Admittedly Jaq had never really had any relatives who cared for him much, and so had a hard time getting a hold of the idea that Lanza might care either. Growing up in a political war, he couldn't help but suspect. And so the question slipped out. "Is there something you wanted from me then?"
((Yea, poor Jaq's always thinking someone has double motives. He doesn't trust older people. XD))

((Heh, well if you were him, would you?))
Lanza's mouth opened slowly, but she didn't speak, instead she turned her head away. Why would she want anything from him? He was her son, she wouldn't... She couldn't want anything from him, there was nothing, nothing at all that even came into her mind about that subject.
"No, there's nothing I would want from you..." She said, her soft and sweet voice returning again. Through not as strong as it had been before when she first came here to visit him. She sighed, flicking her tails againand staring up at the ceiling. Lanza had missed so much, it wasn't her fault, it wasn't Jaq's fault, it was his father's... If only she could've been the one to keep him, but she wasn't going to risk killing the guy at the time just to get her son...
"If you don't trust me, I understand, it's okay."
((Also, Jaq's dad may have been boring, but Lanza wash still awsome back then! Maybe we could do it tommareh, if possible?))

((Sure. But you have to make the chatzy, 'cause I already got one. ^^ And no, I definitely would be the same if I were Jaq.))
Jaq couldn't resist this time. "It's a little hard to trust you I'm afraid. I'm not a trusting guy. But more than that...my dad wouldn't leave you for just anything. He would have risked a lot to make sure he didn't risk more. Leaving you was a huge risk. There must have been some pretty good reasons, right?"
He flicked his ears back as the drake under his hat started growling again. The stupid lizard wasn't helping. "I don't know, it's just...you could have come sooner. At least let me know. I left the rest of that snot-nosed clan two years ago. Where have you been?" That last sentence wasn't as accusing as the rest of it. Sort of pleading for an answer. "I mean....I don't know if...if I'd have wanted you, no offense. But no one's ever really been there for me. It might have been nice to have one more."
He lowered his head, a slight resentment growing in his chest. "Do you know why I'm blind, miss Lanza?"
