"I was back in my country... I'm sorry..." Lanza lifted her head right away, and even through Jaq couldn't see it she slowly shook her head. "No, I don't know... Could you tell me? Please?" She asked slowly, through she wasn't actually expecting an answer from him, she knew it was very likely that he wouldn't answer anything after awhile.
"If you don't want to explain, I can understand that too... It's all up to you..." She said slowly, the softness in her voice disappeared, only emotionlessness was left.

Jaq didn't like her lack of emotion much better than he'd liked the babying. This was a sensitive thing... And indeed he wasn't sure he wanted to tell her. Not really. He hadn't told anyone for years. Not Cannon or Kaliska or Scott. Half his relatives didn't even know. Part of his father's and step mother's cover-ups...
Slowly he licked his lips and began. Not really knowing why. Well he supposed he did know why. I'll come back to that later. "I was home alone. Found myself alone. I was nine. I didn't know why I was alone, where everyone else had gone. In the massive house I figured they were all just sort of...hiding. Turns out my father had gotten a tip that someone was after his life. When you're that high up and you've stepped on so many people to get there, assassins are a risk you take. Everyone fled the estate. Later I choked the whole story out of my father." Quite literally. Jaq couldn't help a dark smirk at the memory. "He was saving his own fat arse, and as he was flying away on his private helecopter he shouted down to the butler to get me out, as an after-thought of course."
Jaq had to pause to take a deep breath here. "The guy didn't look very long, couldn't find me, and he was in such a panic he was quick to assume I must have gone with my mom or another servant or something. He left and I was alone. I heard later that my...'mother' escaped in her grand limo."
Jaq remembered the exact scene to perfection, but didn't share with Lanza the finer details. He'd gotten out the old sword off the mantle, since no one was there to scold him for it. Swinging it around clumsily, then to his shock it was ripped from his hands and Jaq was yanked from behind, a sack pulled over his head, hands tied. "I don't know how many their were. I only saw them twice, and there was a pretty bright light in my face at the time. You know, for effect for the ransom videos. Johnson Kallan was not to be intimidated though. He got the police and GUN on it, and personal agents." A noble cause, but in the end Jaq knew it was all done in the hopes that Johnson would gain more fame if he succeeded. Well, he hadn't, had he?
"So the camera rolled again. The light went on." Lights, camera, action, Jaq thought weakly. The action was his least favorite part of this story. "They had to follow up on their threats. They took a knife to my eyes. A clean cut right across them. Didn't cut them out, lucky, me, but..." His fists tightened, though he was cynically surprised at how little emotion he let flow into his words. But it had been years... All that was left was resentment--time had washed away the horror.
He edited a little now, went on ahead. "Well with that video my father swallowed his pride for once and immediately paid the ransom. The culprits got away, the police have never found them. I came home stark blind."
He slowly relaxed his fist, forced it. "Forgive me for not believing you. But I think cynicism is how I keep my sanity."
((HOLY long post... XD))

Lanza remained silent, so that was it then? How he had become blind? Something that painful... That was... Infact, there were no real words to express emotions about that, there weren't any words at all for that. Through, Lanza was going to do something for him, not because she felt pity or felt sorry, and not as a gift etheir. She pulled out a green gem, the thing glowed slightly.
"I understand that you wouldn't believe me... I'm sorry for what you went through..." I'm sorry for what he put you through, and what I put this world through when I made them suffer, trying to make it a better place... Lanza crushed the gem in her hands, there was no noise made as the gem shattered, but it slowly became dust and floated over the Jaq's eyes, sinking into them and disappearing, letting the last of the gem's powers go into Jaq's body... and deeper into his soul...
"Maybe I should just leave..." Lanza slowly stood up, not bothering to pick up the papars she had placed on the table.

Jaq jerked back suddenly, wincing his eyes shut as what felt like a dusty gust of wind attacked him. He pulled off his shades and rubbed his eyes with one hand, face twisting up for a second before a sneeze rocked through him. Once, twice. "Ulgh..." Still rubbing his eyes, he stumbled to stand up and find the window, closing it tight. His eyes still hurt and he felt another sneeze about to come on, but he fought both.
"That's it?" he asked sharply. "No rune book? No..." He had to stop, the sneeze interrupting him rudely. He let out another low groan.

Lanza stopped and turned around a smile on her face. "No, after my ship was destroyed I have no use for runes... Something wrong?" The smile turned into a smirk, just as planned, it would soon be happening, it was working perfectly.
"Why? Did you expect to ask your for it? Or are you just admitting that you actually have one of the remainig books?" She asked, the calm and happy emotion returning to her voice as she spoke. Lanza turned around completely and took one single step towards him. "Dust can be annoying when it gets in your eyes..."

Jaq winced as his ears stood straight like horns. Slowly he pulled his hand away...and he thought he sensed the movement. The darkness that was always present...was becoming sharper, more clear, something definite. He flexed his fingers in front of his face slowly....testing it...
"St-stop it," he growled lowly, closing his eyes stubbornly and moving his face away from her. "Cut it out..." What was going on? Lanza had to be the cause of course. She had to be. He knew he was acting like an idiot, knew she knew it. But...why shouldn't he want it?

"What's wrong? You don't like having your sight back? Even if it will only last a day?" Lanza shook her head slowly, there was no way to make it stop right now, he'd just have to wait until it stopped on it's own, besides, what was wrong with being able to see again? There was nothing wrong with it was there?
"I can't stop it... There's no way to stop it... You just have to let it happen, after four-hundred and ninety seven years this is the first good thing I've tried to do..." She let out a small laugh and turned around again, slowly leaving the kitchen.
"This all could've been fixed if I had just killed your father when I had the chace..."

"No. You shouldn't have killed him. You couldn't have and you know it. He's dead now anyways..." Jaq's words were tense, him staggering backwards as he slowly winced his eyes open again.
The light, there was so little of it, was absolutely blinding. After so many years in the dark... He gasped, colors assaulting him as he opened his eyes fully. Eyes no longer misty white, but brown once more. Jaq drew several shaky breath, absolutely shaking everywhere, unable to stop, his eyes swimming as tears came down his cheeks. He didn't want it, no. But that was being stupid. That's just what he'd convinced himself. Convinced himself that there was a reason he was blind, a reason he didn't want to change that even if he'd been able to. He'd come up with some mighty good reasons after all. To remember, for one. To remember what he would have grown up like--just like his father--if it weren't for the scars from his father's mistake. Another reason, for the sake of a grudge. And another...because he'd gotten used to it and privately liked some of the attention. It's what he told himself.
But what was he thinking? There was no comparison. Jaq tried to clear his eyes, tried to catch it all, eyes fixing on Lanza's bright reddish-orange fur as she walked away. "Wait--" He misjudged the distance his foot had to travel to the floor and suddenly he fell. On his hands now, still shaking, he watched his shoulder where the drake, who wasn't as ugly as Jaq had always assumed it would be, slowly climbed off his head, watching the wolf in surprise.

Couldn't have killed him? Ah, little did Jaq know that she was strong enough to do so, without feeling guilty about it. But, that wasn't important right now. Lanza stopped and half turned, looking down at Jaq, her face calm, and her eyes soft... "Yes...?" She said slowly, not even going over to offer to help him up, she knew that he'd probably refuse anyway... Still not trusting her...
"What is it...?"

Jaq felt a sense of irony that he somehow managed to get around fine blind but his first step he took while seeing he'd taken a fall.
The drake was continuing to crawl down his arm and onto the floor between Jaq's supporting clenched fists, the yellow eyes staring up at him in confusion. It really was beautiful, now that he saw it in full. Something majestic and outstanding about it, though he couldn't be sure it wasn't just the fact that he was seeing at all that made everything so...vivid, so perfect, so wonderful. His eyes flashed up, then around the room, taking a quick look. Wow, was that really what his living room looked like? He didn't think the recliner was that small. Up to Lanza again. Focus, man.
"One day? That...that's all I get?" The only thing worse than loosing your sight...is loosing it twice. He tried to keep the desperation out of his voice as he spoke, but it was hard. He wanted it all...

"... One day, I wish I could do more... But that's all I can do, I'm not powerful enough yet... I can't give back your sight fully..." Lanza turned and walked back towards him, stopping in front of Jaq, her smirk disappeared and she became more calm and relaxed. She closed her eyes slowly and thought about it, it wanted it now hm? Complete and total sight... Well there was a way.
"I know someone who can give it all back... Only if you trust me..."

((I should mention, I want Jaq to still be ultimately blind. We can do temporary fixes, but it has to go wrong at some point. He's my blind wolfie for a reason. ^^ But you can do as much experimental mumbo-jumbo as you want.))
Jaq slowly sat up on his knees, arms straight and palms pressing against the tops of his thighs as he digested that. Did it really matter? He could trust her, couldn't he?
The dragon seemed to be reading his thoughts, for it snapped its head up towards Lanza and growled what Jaq imagined to be an answering no. The wolf reached out and picked it up in his hands, the drake not fighting for once. Then his eyes turned up to Lanza. What did he have to loose? It's not like him being with her could hurt any. ...Right?
"I trust you..." The dragon was rumbling in his hands, rumbling with a growing growl, but Jaq ignored it. "I'll do whatever it takes..."
Never did he want this taken from him again, those desperate eyes searching her face.

A soft happy smile came onto Lanza's face and she nodded. "Let's go then... The limo, should be outside by now..." Lanza whispered something, but it was too queitto hear, it might've been directed at Jaq or just at something else, or maybe it was just a silent Prayer.
"I have a daughter who can help... She's one of the smartest people on the planet..."
