The chao garden had almost no visitors today--the sky was choked with rain clouds and a very sparse sprinkle. The only visitor was a young wolf cub of maybe six years. Cascade was crouched in front of a young light chao, frowning at it curiously. The white and blue-tinged female chao looked up at him with wide eyes like a deer in the headlights. They had been at it for a while, like an endless staring contest.
A caretaker walked by and Cascade's concentration broke, lifting his head up to look at her. He smiled innocently and she smiled back before walking on.
Cascade looked back down to find the chao had flown off. He sighed, seeing it hide behind a large boulder in the distance. He picked up a blade of grass out of boredom and stood up. These chao were interresting. Ever since meeting Spyk and his chao, Cascade's curiosity was pricked. But the light one had seen him for what he was and wouldn't come close again. The dark ones in this garden right now were too spunky and full of fire for his tastes. And all the other chao were too...innocent. What Cascade really wanted was a brand new chao to bond with, but there were none here right now.

"Hi Sonic!" The care-taker said as the door into the garden opened and a blue hedgehog walked in, glancing at her and smiling.
"Hey." He answered casually, not having a clue who this girl was that knew his name. But he got alot of that, and he didn't dare do anything overfriendly. Not after what happened last time...
A few chaos looked up at him and waddled toward the blue hedgehog, regonizing him as the guy who brought them fruit occasionally. Not this time though, Sonic was looking for the champaine colored chao who went by Sandi, but she wasn't among the ones that had formed a circle around him, looking up with wide, expecting eyes.
Sonic blinked when he realized he was surrounded, then smiled and knelt down and gave one of them a pet on the head, "Sorry, I don't have any food for you today." He said then sprang out of their circle effortlessly, then walked up to Cascade, "Hey pal, have you seen a goldish colored angel chao wondering around?"

Cascade looked over his shoulder and his icy blue eyes seemed to pierce sonic--almost painfully--for a second. But then he just looked innocent. "Sorry, no," he replied in a young and high-pitched voice. "Want me to help you find it though, mister?"
Sonic the hedgehog... he thought to himself, looking up at the blue hedghog with something akin to awe. Then Cascade looked away quickly, those sharp blue eyes scanning the garden. "Is it your chao, mister?"

That piercing glare hadn't gone unnoticed by Sonic, even though it was brief. One of his brows lowered slightly but a smile appeared. "Oh, so he's one of THEM kinds of kids huh?" Sonic asumed this was one of those sneaky little kids you'd never catch with their hand in the cookie jar, and they'd let you sit and wonder why it's always empty. This might be interesting...
"Nah, It's a friends." He said slowly, a casual, unsuspecting look on his face along with a small grin, "Be careful though, she's a biter." He took a few steps around Cascade, and began scanning the garden, "Sandi?"

Cascade felt a thrill of excitement course through him as Sonic passed. Here the famous one was. And what made him so great? Why was speed such a magnificent thing? Surely there were others on this planet who had powers even greater. The elementalists and the psycics and the flyers, surely these were all just as great? What made Sonic so special? That's what Cascade wanted to know. He had to know. And he could do it fast...but Sonic seemed to have an endless supply of dumb luck and Cascade wasn't sure he wanted to risk it just yet. Best to do things like usual and gain trust first.
He started walking accrosst he garden, one hand held out palm-up in front of him as though to accept something handed to him. He barely twitched two fingers and a nearby boulder shot up into the air. A startled blue chao yelped as he looked up at Cascade--the chao had been hiding under in apparently. Cascade just set the boulder back down and kept doing little tricks like this--flattening the tall grass to see all that were in it and brushing aside all the little hiding places. He wasn't having too much luck so far, but he wasn't really looking. Things would show up eventually.
"Hey, um...Mister," he said shyly. "So um...how'd you get so famous?"

((Lol! I like cascade now....that's funny)))
Sonic had been taking note of what Cascade was capable of, though he didn't make it obvious. It seemed like Sonic was just casually looking for the chao, checking behind bushes and trees, calling her name occasionally. His ears pricked and he looked over at the younger mobian when he spoke the question, chuckled, then resumed searching, "Doing the right thing at the right time and place I guess." He straightened and scratched his head, mostly from the fact that he had no clue where this chao was, but also because he really didn't know the answer to Cascade's question. It just sorta...happened.
He grinned, "I ate my fruits and veggies..."

Cascade let out a high-spirited laugh. "From what I hear you just ate chilli dogs," he said plainly. A peice of land jutted out of the hillside overlooking a small clear pond that a few chao were swimming in. He stopped and started looking though them. He was a little disappointed by Sonic's first words though. Cascade didnt' often do the right thing. It was always the wrong thing that he somehow managed to do in just the right way.
He started to turn around and thought he saw a chao of the desired color run past. "Hey! Is that her?" he called to Sonic, pointing to where the chao was running over to share an apple with another chao.

Sonic looked up instantly, "Yea! Get 'er!" Sonic dashed around, not all that fast though, to head her off.
The chao slid to a stop, blinking up at Sonic then turning to run the other way, actually moving pretty dang fast for a chao that wasn't a runniny type.

Cascade grinned. "Yes sir!" he replied enthusiastically. He suddenly fell down hard on the ground on his knees, slamming his hands into the dirt like it was a massive drum. And in the same movement the earth shot up around the chao, circling it. The walls of earth and stone shot up high into the air to trap it. Cascade laughed and stood up quickly. There was only one opening, poised so Sonic would reach it before the chao would.

Sonic watched as the earth shot up around the chao, "Whoa." He said in awe that a kid could do that. But then he saw the chao slipping away and his eyes widened, "Uh hey!" He made a dive for the chao and it let out a squeek of alarm just before Sonic's hands closed around it's circle-shaped body and they both went sliding the few feet it took into the water with a splash.
The chao came back to the surface, it's eyes wide from the trama and it struggled to the side, but the water level wasn't high enough for it to be able to get up over the wall.
However, it obviously was having more luck than Sonic. The blue hedgehog thrashed around, screaming something about "can't swim" but it was drownd out by the water when he kept going under. But after a few seconds, he realized the water was only up to his neck when he was on his knees, and he was suddenly still, his head above the water, blinking.

Cascade laughed as he ran up to Sonic. "You alright, mister?!" he called, coming to a stop as he stood on top of the wall overlooking the hedgehog and the chao. "Wow, that's a pretty chao." He laughed again slightly. "Need help?" He placed a hand back down firmly on the ground and the wall of dirt started to sink again. Cascade reached out with one hand to grab hold of Sandi.

Sandi squirmed but pretty much admited defeat, and after a moment, she crossed her arms and frowned, glaring at Sonic and the water that had made her so uncomfortable.
The blue hedgehog's blank stare turned into a frown and he grumbled before jumping out of the water, landing on the shore. He surpressed a half hearted laugh as he scrunched his quills then shook his head like a dog, sending water droplets in all directions and causing Sandi to squeek in aggrivation.
"Haha! So that's where it's at! You don't like water either huh?" Sonic blew a rasberry at the Chao in Cascade's arms and her pouty look deepened.
"Thanks kid! I don't think I cought your name." Sonic said, taking the unhappy chao, "I'm Sonic in case you haven't guessed."

"Cascade!" the wolf cub replied enthusiastically. "I see you all the time on TV, mister! It's really cool!" He bounced slightly on the balls of his feet before suddenly standing still. "Heh, why are you afraid of water, mister? That doesn't sound very hero-making if ya ask me."
